Fortitude Boxing’s First Nations Boxing Camp

Fortitude Boxing is deeply committed to supporting and developing First Nations talent through its Indigenous Amateur Boxing Camp. This initiative goes beyond typical boxing training, aiming to empower young First Nations athletes both in and out of the ring.

Held annually, with a recent camp running from April 7-10, 2025, the Indigenous Amateur Boxing Camp brings young First Nations boxers and their coaches from remote and regional Queensland to Brisbane. The camp provides them with access to the same high-quality coaching and support that is typically available in coastal areas.

Key aspects of the Fortitude Boxing First Nations Boxing Camp include:

  • Expert Mentorship: Participants receive unparalleled guidance from top boxing professionals and respected community leaders, including NRL legend Justin Hodges and Boxing Hall of Famer Stephen Deller.

  • Skill Development: The intensive training camp focuses on honing boxing skills, providing young athletes with the tools and knowledge to reach their full potential in the sport.

  • Cultural Connection: The program also incorporates a unique four-day journey in the evenings, allowing young boxers to rediscover their cultural identity and history. They also have the opportunity to interact with leading First Nations athletes and community leaders, discussing the challenges and triumphs of being a young First Nations person.

  • Pathway to Success: The camp is designed to showcase the incredible talent within Queensland's First Nations communities, inspiring future champions and providing a pathway for them to lead and represent their people on a national stage.

This camp, alongside events like the "Indigenous Rounds in the Ring" fight night, underscores Fortitude Boxing's dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that celebrates culture and fosters the next generation of Indigenous boxing stars.
