WYLLIE AND DIB ON COLLISION COURSE FOR BRUTAL BRISBANE SHOWDOWN
Fortitude Boxing, in conjunction with global promoter Matchroom Boxing, is
proud to present a landmark night in Australian boxing: "Rise of the Machine – 40 Years of
Fortitude", headlined by a blockbuster showdown between Jake "The Machine" Wyllie and
Youssef "Uwee" Dib on Friday, August 23rd at The Fortitude Music Hall.
In what promises to be a brutal intersection of ambition and legacy, the main event sees
Brisbane’s own Jake Wyllie return home in a high-stakes clash against seasoned warrior Youssef
Dib. The bout marks the centrepiece of Fortitude Boxing’s 40-year anniversary celebrations and
is set to shake the foundations of the Australian boxing scene.
Wyllie, whose name is now etched into global boxing conversation, shocked fans earlier this
year when he stepped in on four days' notice to face former unified world champion George
Kambosos Jr. Against all odds, Wyllie went the full twelve rounds and pushed the elite fighter to
the limit - a performance that earned him not only global respect but a multi-fight deal with
Matchroom Boxing.
With a staggering 16 knockouts from 17 wins, “The Machine” now looks to continue his ascent
in front of a hometown crowd. This event, named in his honour, will be his first fight since that
breakout performance.
“The future of Australian boxing has never looked so bright. And Jake Wyllie showed the world
back in March why he is its latest star in the making,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman, Eddie
Hearn.
“He might have fallen short, but he took a former Undisputed World Champion in George
Kambosos Jr to the absolute limit on just four days’ notice. On August 23, we will witness the
rise of ‘The Machine’ as Jake Wyllie bids to put in another box office performance when he takes
on a very game opponent in Youssef Dib.”
Standing across from Wyllie will be Youssef Dib - a veteran fighter with over 20 wins and a
reputation built on resilience and grit. Known for his explosive recent clashes with Liam Wilson,
Dib has never backed down from a firefight. He arrives in Brisbane with every intention of
silencing the hype and stealing the spotlight.
“This is my show now,” said Wyllie. “Youssef is tough, but he’s never felt power like mine. On
August 23rd, in front of my city, I’m not just going to win. I’m going to give everyone a front-row
seat to the Rise of the Machine.”
But Dib remains unfazed. “I’ve seen hype before. I’ve been in the trenches,” he said. “He got a
contract - good for him. But I’ve been in real wars. He’s got the name of the show, he’s got all the
pressure. Let’s see what happens when the lights are on him and he’s facing a man who’s
coming to break him.”
"Rise of the Machine – 40 Years of Fortitude" is not just another fight card - it’s a reckoning. A
classic battle of knockout artist versus battle-hardened veteran, with everything on the line.
“It promises to be a special night at the Fortitude Music Hall,” said Eddie Hearn.
