Fortitude Young Guns Deliver a Statement Night at The Princess Theatre 🤠🌵
Fortitude Boxing’s Young Guns Fight Night took over The Princess Theatre with a packed card, a roaring crowd and the kind of atmosphere that showed exactly why Fortitude is the Home of Champions.
With a Spaghetti Western theme, a full house and some of Brisbane’s most exciting rising fighters stepping through the ropes, the night was more than just another fight show. It was a statement from the next generation coming through Fortitude.
His fight was a huge moment for the Fortitude community. It showed that the fight culture here runs deeper than the professional ranks. It lives in the Masters squad, the members, the coaches and everyone who turns up day after day to train, improve and represent the club.
In the main event, Hayden “Hold My Beer” Emmerson stepped in against Joshua Hatherley and wasted no time making his presence felt. Hayden pushed the pace early, took control and finished the job in Round 2 with a strong stoppage win. It was a sharp, composed performance from Hayden, who handled the big stage with confidence and gave the Fortitude crowd the kind of finish they came to see.
Riley Allen also delivered one of the standout performances of the night, stopping Allan Villanueva in Round 5. Riley had to work deeper into the fight, showing patience, fitness and the ability to build pressure over multiple rounds. It was a mature performance from a fighter who continues to prove he has the discipline and composure to keep rising.
Jimmie “2 Shoes” Phusomsai kept the Fortitude momentum going with another strong win, stopping Patrick Clarke in Round 2. Jimmie looked calm, dangerous and ready when the opportunity came. It was the kind of performance that matched what everyone at the gym already knows about him: he is composed, powerful and always prepared to do the work.
Christopher O’Reilly gave the crowd one of the fastest finishes of the night, stopping Iain Blade in Round 1. Chris came out switched on and made an immediate statement, turning pressure into a stoppage before the fight had a chance to settle. Known for bringing personality, presence and energy into fight week, Chris backed it all up perfectly inside the ring.
The night also featured a special Masters bout from Fortitude’s own Cliff Thompson, who stepped into the ring against Jamie Storey with the World Masters Title on the line. Cliff brought heart, experience and pride to the card, showing exactly what Masters boxing is all about. Discipline, courage and the willingness to test yourself under the lights, no matter your age or stage.
Across the night, Fortitude’s fighters showed skill, heart and hunger. From Cliff representing the Masters squad with pride, to Hayden, Riley, Jimmie and Chris putting on big performances under the lights, Young Guns was a reminder of what this club is built on.
Hard work. Courage. Community. Champions.
From everyone at Fortitude, congratulations to every fighter, coach, cornerman, sponsor, supporter and member who helped make the night what it was. The next generation is here, and they are only just getting started.
